Model C1B - Baritone Classical

When I received an inquiry to build a baritone classical guitar, I was not sure I wanted to accept the commission. While I have been offering various configurations of steel string baritone guitars for many years, I had never built a nylon string version before and was not sure how it would turn out. After consulting with a few trusted colleagues, many days of drawing, calculating ideal scale length, looking at various string gauges and overall string tension….I decided to accept the commission. I am VERY glad I did! To say that the C1B is a successful instrument is an understatement. I was so moved by this instrument that I am now offering it as a regular model.

Based on my C1 concert classical model, this is a performance level, concert sized guitar. As with all my nylon string guitars, the C1B is lattice braced and has an elevated neck with a negative angle to the body. The neck joins the body at the 13^th fret.

Tuned from B’ to b, its haunting, mellifluous voice is balanced across the fretboard and up to the top fret. Each note speaks clearly with a strong fundamental and a lush overtone series. This is an incredibly expressive and lyrical guitar.
